Toyota High School Athlete of the Week- Bishop Ludden Girls Volleyball

Bishop Ludden Girls Volleyball is on the verge of a New York State Championship

It's something for the entire Bishop Ludden community to rally behind.

The school has been in existence for 53 years and enjoyed multiple basketball state titles and even a football crown 9 years ago.

Here's hoping a new banner goes up for 2016.

The Girls Volleyball team is in the New York State Final Four this weekend at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The semifinals are done in a pool play fashion, that gets rolling Saturday morning.

Ludden made it this far by winning Section III over rival Bishop Grimes. In the Regional Playoffs, Ludden beat Candor from Western New York.

"I've never really been on a championship winning team in my career so this is all new, exciting, surreal and with these girls it's absolutely amazing" says senior outside hitter Bridget Brogan

Truly, it's a journey every member and coach of the team will never forget regardless of what happens this weekend.

But what if they are able to bring home the title?

"It'd mean a whole lot to our program" junior Josie Towne says.

"It'd just show that we are a team to be reckon with and that we can be here and that we deserve to be here on the court with all of these other teams" she added.

The Ludden faithful remain hopeful they have another gathering in that historic gymnasium to raise another state title banner, but even if they don't, there's a lot of pride on Fay Road today.

Congratulations to Bishop Ludden Girls Volleyball, our Toyota High School Athletes of the Week!
