Toyota High School Athletes- Katie and Kiera Shanley from F-M Lacrosse
Fayetteville-Manlius Girls Lacrosse makes its mark with a marquee win for the 2017 season.
The Hornets knocked off mighty West Genesee for the first time in over a decade.
What's more, it showed the future of the program may very well be the present.
The Shanley sisters, Katie and Kiera combined for 12 of F-M's 16 goals in a 16-13 win over the Wildcats.
Kiera scored 9 goals with 2 assists, while Katie recorded 3 goals and 5 assists.
Can you say double trouble?
The Shanleys are actually triplets, they have a brother that loves lacrosse as well. The game is truly in their genes, as both parents played competitively at a high level too.
Katie and Kiera tell us that this can lead to some fierce backyard games, which forces their brother in net even if he's not a goalie.
Still, the Shanley sisters have two lacrosse families.
Obviously, their home life loves the game, but their team with the Hornets is a family affair as well.
The Hornets are coached by Kristen Taylor and Kelly Tormey. Yes, they're sisters and yes, the Taylor family is one of the most famous for lacrosse in Central New York.
The parallels are striking, and the F-M faithful hopes the Shanley sisters can return F-M to where the Taylor sisters did.
A New York State Championship.
For now, the sophomores are content playing their hardest for their family and teammates, all the while improving every day.
Congratulations to Katie and Kiera Shanley, Our Toyota High School Athletes of the Week!
