After much hype, the Syracuse University men's basketball team will finally wear the new "platinum series" uniforms in game action. The uniforms were made by Nike specially for schools who have won a national championship.
The Orange may only wear the uniforms you see pictured for one game, Wednesday night against South Florida, but it is possible they will wear them in the future as well.
We spoke with Marshall Street shop owners Bill Nestor of Manny's and Dave Jacobs of Shirt World, who concur that these new jerseys are lighter and will improve the Orange's performance on the court.
Nike released the jersey, shorts, warm-up jacket, and hat for purchase. When we talked to Nestor, he said all but the hat were in danger of selling out, and probably would be by game time.
The jerseys cost $120, the warm-up is $145, and the shorts are $80.
Syracuse's game with South Florida starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
