Call it the definition of a statement victory.

Syracuse and Georgia Tech were awfully close on the proverbial NCAA Tournament bubble heading into Saturday.

I think there may be some space between the two schools now.

The Orange crushed Georgia Tech from start to finish 90-61 in a game where Syracuse never trailed.

SU led by 12 at the half, before a Georgia Tech 9-0 run got the Yellow Jackets within three.

From there, Andrew White took over the game.

Shooting a sizzling 8-9 from three point range and 12-16 from the field overall, White scored 40 points. That's good enough to tie the Carrier Dome record for an Orange player at 40 points.

That record was set by Gene Waldron in 1984.

The win improves Syracuse's record to 18-13 overall and 10-8 in ACC play.

Many experts believe the 10-8 mark in conference is enough for an NCAA Tournament at-large bid, but a win at the ACC Tournament would certainly make things a bit more secure.

Syracuse earns the 8-seed at the ACC Tournament, they'll play the 9-seed Miami at noon Wednesday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
