This past Monday was certainly an exciting day in Syracuse sports. Not only did SU officially join the ACC, but the football program also earned a verbal commitment from Jason Cabinda, making it their fourth linebacker commit for the class of 2014.
Like many athletes, Cabinda has one goal in his mind on the field: do whatever it takes to win. In his high school, the team depends on him for his offensive flair as a running back. But at SU, the new recruit is willing to make the switch to a more defensive position, which he says is a natural playing style for him.
Beyond the football field though, Cabinda plans to complete a dual academic degree in finance and communications. The prestige of SUâ??s Newhouse School of Public Communications and Whitman School of Management helped seal the deal for him to commit to SUâ??s football program. The scholar-athlete has plans to use his degree to vist his parentsâ?? country, Cameroon, and help the children in that country.
