Boeheim's take on ACC move; money & football

Syracuse Orange Head Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim seemed to be cutting right to the point on Monday in Alabama, making his opinions known one day after the ACC announced that Syracuse and Pittsburgh were joining the conference.
During a speech at the Monday Morning Quarterback Club in Birmingham, Boeheim joked "If conference commissioners were the founding fathers of this country, we would have Guatemala, Uruguay and Argentina in the United States" according to the Binghamton News. The article by Jon Solomon says that Boeheim also told the crowd, "This audience knows why we are doing this. There's two reasons: Money and football." Boeheim also reportedly said he believes Connecticut and possibly Rutgers will also join the ACC.
SU Football Coach Doug Marrone, on the other hand, was very brief in his Monday morning comments on the topic of SU leaving the Big East. He said at his weekly game week preview media conference that "I'm excited obviously for our University and our program and our student athletes. Joining the ACC puts us in a stronger position for the future, and again I'm excited about the quality of the schools academically and athletically and the competition and I look forward to it in the future."
Marrone added that he would not comment on the topic again until the season is over, and that he had asked his players not to comment either. He joked that he wants to make sure he's still around when the Orange finally make their move to the ACC.
