Carrier Dome to host 2015 NCAA Tournament East Regional

Syracuse basketball fans looking for some nearby NCAA Tournament action will have another chance for an up close view in just a couple of years.

The Syracuse University Athletic Department announced Monday morning that the Carrier Dome will be the site of the 2015 NCAA Tournament East Regional. The games will be played on March 27 and 29, with the winner advancing to the Final Four in Indianapolis.

The NCAA says 53 cities competed to be a part of the 2014 and 2015 Division I menâ??s tournaments, and Syracuse was one of 25 to be selected.

"We are thrilled for our hosts for the '14 and '15 tournaments, as they include a mix of cities that have proven over the course of several decades how to stage this great event, as well as cities that have come on to the scene in recent years and have embraced the tournament" said Dan Gavitt, NCAA vice president of men's basketball.

The most recent NCAA Tournament to visit the Dome was in 2010, when West Virginia beat Kentucky 73-66 to win the East Regional. Cornell University lost to Kentucky in that same regional two days prior.

The 2014 East Regional will be held at New York City's Madison Square Garden, home of the annual Big East Tournament.
