For his game-winning efforts in the Syracuse Orange's first game of the season, CBA graduate Riley Dixon was named the ACC's Co-Specialist of the week.
Dixon, Syracuse's punter, also serves as the holder on field goal attempts. So when SU faked its attempt in the second overtime of its game with Villanova, it was Dixon throwing to Kendall Moore for what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown.
Riley is a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse and is a native of Blossvale near the eastern shore of Oneida Lake.
He averaged more than 43 yards per punt throughout the game, including a long of 51 yards. Two of those punts were downed inside the 20-yard line.
Syracuse is off this weekend, then travels to take on Central Michigan September 13th.
