Cicero-North Syracuse grad Breanna Stewart welcomed at the White House

President Obama welcomed the UConn womenâ??s basketball team today at the White House to commemorate their eighth NCAA championship title, in which, the Huskies defeated Louisville 93-60 in April.

Among the players present at the ceremony was Cicero-North Syracuse native, Breanna Stewart, who is having quite the summer adventure. In addition to being the MVP of the NCAA tournament in April, Stewart added a gold medal from the U-19 FIBA World Championship to her trophy cabinet.

USA defeated France 61-28 for their fifth straight U-19 World Championship title. Stewart had 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots in that game. Overall, she finished the tournament with 152 points and shot 58% from the 3-point range, which broke two Team USA records.

The future is bright for Breanna Stewart, who was singled out in the commemoration ceremony by President Obama as one of the athletes who is an outstanding woman and role model on and off the courts.
