Another night, another record for Syracuse basketball.
This time though, the record wasn't broken by the crowd.
Trevor Cooney hit 9 three pointers good for a total of 33 points as Syracuse beat Notre Dame 61-55 on Monday night at the Carrier Dome
Cooney's 9 three pointers ties a Syracuse Carrier Dome record that was also achieved by Andy Rautins, Gerry McNamara and James Southerland.
The victory also extends Syracuse's record-best start to a season which now stands at 22-0.
Syracuse led virtually the entire game thanks to Cooney. In fact, the sharp shooting sophomore hit a three pointer that tied the game at 12 and Syracuse never looked back.
That three pointer, marked a 9-0 run for Cooney alone and a 6 point Orange lead that quickly ballooned to 13 at halftime.
Notre Dame fought back in the second half, using an 8-0 run to cut Syracuse's lead to 43-40.
Enter Cooney, again.
The Delaware native scored 8 straight points for the Orange to extend Syracuse's lead to 54-46 with four minutes to play.
Syracuse, as mentioned, improves to 22-0 this season, and is now 9-0 in its inaugural ACC season.
