It's a true sign of the future.
This week, crews at the Carrier Dome have been installing the ACC logo on Ernie Davis Legends Field.
It was quite a process. For starters, the ACC style guide requires their logo to be on opposite ends of the field from where the Big East logo used to reside.
But as the project comes closer to completion, it looks better and better.
The logo is massive, taking up ten yards between the 20 and 30 yard lines. The letters are white, and at least for this year, will remain a solid white with no trim.
When you watch on TV, both ACC logos on the field will face the cameras, eliminating the awkward upsidedown logos that some schools employ on their field.
Perhaps of more practical importance to fans is the installation of a new Verizon antenna that will go on top of the Carrier Dome.
Executive Director of the Carrier Dome Pete Sala tells me that when the antenna is installed, fans will absolutely notice a huge difference in their ability to text and tweet during games.
The SU Football season gets going on August 31st against Penn State at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. The Carrier Dome opener is September 14th when the Orange hosts Wagner.
Perhaps the largest crowd of the season will come on October 5th when SU hosts national power Clemson.
