Orange wins battle of civic pride- Syracuse tops Greensboro 90-77
It was a game that, allegedly, was not put together on purpose.
Either way, it had some fun story lines heading into it.
A week to the day that Jim Boeheim said Greensboro added "no value" to the ACC Tournament as a host city (he did say it was a nice place with nice people) The Orange ran away from UNC Greensboro 90-77 in the first round of the NIT.
The game was delayed 24 hours by the massive snowstorm that hit Central New York Tuesday and Wednesday, but it didn't cool Andrew White off one bit.
The Orange Graduate Student scored 34 points while shooting 7-9 from three point range as the Orange won by 13.
White now holds the record for most three pointers made in a single season, he currently sits at 109 which passes the previous top three marks that were all set by Gerry McNamara.
Tyus Battle scored 20 points while Tyler Lydon recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Taurean Thompson almost did the same with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
With the win, Syracuse advances to the Round of 16 in the NIT. The Orange will play Ole Miss for the first time ever, that game is set for an 11am start at the Carrier Dome.
