Running Back situation at SU up in the air
Sat, 31 Jul 2010 04:22:46 GMT —
With training camp looming on August 9th, the SU football team could potentially be without two potent talents at running back.
We've known for some time that Delone Carter's court date is Monday, Carter is accused of punching a fellow student over the winter. There's no telling what the fallout from that could be, both legally and from the University Judicial Board, although it does look promising he'll be in Orange for his senior season.
The latest bit of news has caught Orange fans by surprise though, as it's rumored Averin Collier may not be academically eligible for the upcoming season. Of course, no official comment can be made on that situation from SU at this time, but Orange Head Coach Doug Marrone did give the indication that he's unsure of Collier's status for the upcoming season while speaking with Nolan Weidner from the Post-Standard.
We'll certainly find out more on August 9, but if the worst-case scenario for both players takes hold, that would leave Antwon Bailey as the only experienced tailback on the roster.
Stay tuned to us here at CNY Central for the latest on the situation.
As it stands now here's a look at the current roster, without incoming freshmen.
