Typically, June is thought of as the offseason for Syracuse University Athletics, obviously, because school is out of session for at least a couple more months.
The Orange though, is in the news quite a bit today for different reasons today.
Most stories, are analytical, like this one from si.com where writer Andy Staples rates all of the conference realignment moves of the past three years. He gives the Syracuse to the ACC move a B. Which, in tune with the column, is pretty high.
There's more hard news out there today, like the release of the NCAA's APR ratings. These are the academic standings that determine whether schools are eligible for postseason play (See UConn's ban in 2013). SU's scores in football and basketball are up, but basketball needs to keep its marks up, Donna Ditota of the Syracuse Post-Standard.
In her ESPN ACC blog, ESPN.com's Heather Dinich asks fans which football game this fall is the most important to the season. She thinks its the ACC debut against the Clemson Tigers in the Carrier Dome. Hard to argue with her logic, but fans can voice their opinion in her blog.
Also released today, Athlon Sports rates the 14 home stadiums for ACC football schools. The Carrier Dome, checked in at #9.
