SU Football picks up a pair of commitments from top notch recruits

It'll be a fun ride to signing day, which is just over a week away for the SU Football team.

The weekend brought great news for Scott Shafer's program as wide receiver Corey Cooper from North Carolina and lineman Alex Hayes from Georgia both commited to the Orange.

Cooper, 5'11" playmaker chose Syracuse over a plethora of BCS-level offers like Miami, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee to name a few. George McDonald is credited with reeling in Cooper as the two began their relationship while McDonald was briefly working at Arkansas.

Hayes adds much needed bulk to the Orange line to help ease the loss of Justin Pugh and Zack Chibane. Hayes is a high school senior but already checks in at 6'4" 280 lbs.

Syracuse still has a few open spots and is still hoping to add a few more players, including one at the quarterback spot. As Mitch Kimble from Illinois decides between the Orange and NC State on Monday.
