The Syracuse Athletic Department announced today the tentative 2014 non-conference football schedule. The Orange will face a wide range of opponents from the Big Ten, Mid-American Conference, Yankee Conference and of course its home league, the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Orange will kick off the 2014 season at the Carrier Dome against Villanova. It will be the fourth time the two teams face each other since their last meeting almost 40 years ago. The Orange will also host Maryland, Duke, Florida State, Louisville, and North Carolina State.
The matchup with Villanova will take place on August 30, 2014. SU will host Maryland three weeks later on September 20.
Syracuse will travel to MetLife Stadium to play Notre Dame. The last time the Fighting Irish and the Orange met was in 2008 in South Bend where the Orange clinched an improbable 24-23 victory. Syracuse won its only game against Central Michigan 47-7 in 1999, but the Orange and Chippewas will square off in Mount Pleasant Michigan on September 13, 2014. In return for SU's visit in 2014, Central Michigan will visit Syracuse twice in future seasons
The Orange will face four ACC teams on the road next year, including Boston College, Clemson, Pittsburgh, and Wake Forest.
Tickets are now available for fans to reserve for the 2014 Syracuse Football season. Two complimentary tickets to a non-conference menâ??s basketball home game will be given to fans that put down a $75 deposit on season football tickets.
