SU players can only focus on what happens during the game

The Syracuse Orange basketball team finds itself in the middle of controversy after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced against Bernie Fine two weeks ago.

But all the team has done since then, is win.

Syracuse basketball is 4-0 since the news broke, with two quality wins over Virginia Tech and Stanford. The Orange players say they're well aware of what's going on off the court, but they can't let it affect them on the court.

In fact, Jim Boeheim went on to say "The players will not be distracted. We may not win every game and if we lose a game it's not because we're distracted. We'll keep them focused, the important thing as a coach that you try to teach your players from the first day they get here is they have to be focused, (for) two and a half hours".

Certainly, that mindset is a must.

The Orange's toughest test of the young season comes up on Friday when #10 Florida comes to the Carrier Dome at 7:00 p.m. How will the SU players respond? If the answers they've given to the media lately is any indication, they'll come out ready to please what's sure to be a big crowd Friday night.

Scoop Jardine said the extra attention is serving as a motivation of sorts. This team wants to prove to the nation that even though there are some disturbing allegations going on off the court, they are talented and focused enough to have a big season.
