Next Friday's Texas Bowl will mark the final time Jerome Smith will wear a Syracuse Football jersey.
The senior from Bear, Delaware said on Twitter "It's been a pleasure, Syracuse." which of course, sparked clamor among Orange fans.
Later in the afternoon, sources confirmed to me that Smith indeed is headed for the pros and Head Coach Scott Shafer also confirmed the news to syracuse.com
Smith has been the Orange's leading rusher the past two seasons, including running for 840 yards so far in 2013.
No doubt, there's no way to exactly replace a back like Smith who brings a perfect combination of power and speed but the Orange does have several options heading into 2014 including Prince Tyson-Gulley
