A key cog in Syracuseâ??s defense will miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury which will require surgery.
SU Athletics announced Monday that senior cornerback Keon Lyn has a â??lower body injuryâ?? and will miss the remainder of 2013. Lyn, a three-year starter, has 16 tackles (14 solo) for the Orange in four games this year.
Early Monday afternoon, Lyn tweeted "Minor setback for a major comeback. My college career at cuse is over but I enjoyed it. This wont be the last thing yall hear of me #Cuse".
SU says Drs. Irving Raphael and Brad Raphael, the teamâ??s physicians, will perform surgery to repair the injury.
Lyn, from Miramar, Florida, will likely not be able to apply for an extra year of eligibility because he has played in too many games this season.
According to SU, Lyn has amassed 75 career solo tackles (89 total), three interceptions, and two forced fumbles in his 38-game career. He had two solo tackles in the Orangeâ??s 49-14 loss to #3 Clemson on Saturday.
