Syracuse drops to 7th in latest AP hoops poll

The free-fall continues for the Syracuse Orange menâ??s basketball team.

The Orange, who were ranked #1 in the nation two weeks ago, are now sitting at seventh in this weekâ??s Associated Press college hoops poll. SU began its season 25-0, but has lost three of its last four to drop to 26-3 overall (13-3 ACC) and into second place in the conference standings.

Florida retains the top overall spot with 46 first place votes. Duke and Virginia, two ACC teams who have defeated Syracuse during their recent slide, sit and #4 and #5, respectively. Villanova is #6, even though Syracuse defeated them 78-62 at home in December.

SU plays its last home game of the season Tuesday night when they host Georgia Tech for â??Senior Nightâ?? at the Carrier Dome. Seniors Baye Keita, C.J. Fair, Nolan Hart, and Russ DeRemer will be honored before the game. Tip time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be shown on MSG+ 2 in Central New York. The Orange then finish the regular season at Florida State on Saturday Sunday. (error corrected).
