Syracuse Football Spring Game marks return to game action for Marcus Sales

It was a long year for Marcus Sales, missing the 2011 season because of a suspension after the CBA alum was arrested on drug charges. Those charges were later dropped, paving the way for Sales to return to the Orange.

Now Marcus is ready to make his mark.

Remember the last time we saw Sales in an actual game, he was busy torching Kansas State for 172 receiving yards and three touchdowns at the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl in 2010.

He'll be a senior in 2012, the year he was suspended essentially served as a redshirt year that he never used. Despite what seemed like a daunting legal road at one point, Sales said he never doubted that he'd see Ernie Davis Legends Field at the Carrier Dome again.

"I wasn't really worried" said Sales. "I just stayed focused, worked out, stayed with my teammates, stayed in touch with them. They knew I was with them (during) the whole process".

The Orange will absolutely need Sales in 2012. Gone are contributors at the wideout position last year in Van Chew and Dorian Graham. Alec Lemon missed spring practice with an injury and his return for the upcoming season is in question. Sales says that he used the spring practice sessions not only to get back up to speed, but to also build chemistry with quarterback Ryan Nassib.

Sales caught 26 passes for 414 yards in his last season in Orange, as a sophomore in 2009 he hauled in 28 catches for 362 yards. He has eight touchdown catches for his career.
