Syracuse Orange mangles McGill in Canadian exhibition

In a cramped and hot Love Competition Hall, the Syracuse Orange menâ??s basketball team began their 4 game Preseason Canadian Exhibition trip with a 80-40 drubbing of the Mc Gill University Redmen.

McGill University, which was described as the Canadian equivalent to Harvard, found themselves in a hole early against the Orange, only scoring 6 points in the first quarter against the solid Orange defense.

CJ Fair scored 9 of his 13 points in the first quarter, but was pulled for the entire second half after being involved in a tumble in the second quarter. However, the injury was reported as not severe and Fair was sat as a precaution. Native Canadian and Orange Freshman Tyler Ennis had a solid first game for the Orange, getting the start at point guard and scoring 11 points. Trevor Cooney, who had 10 points, struggled to find his shot from behind the arc most of the game, but heated up late with two threes from deep in the fourth quarter. Jerami Grant led all scorers with 17 points for the Orange.

The Orange stays in Montreal for tomorrowâ??s game against Bishopâ??s University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
