Syracuse ranked 4th in AP poll, 5th in coaches after Maui win

After a big week in which they won the Maui Invitational tournament in Hawaii, the Syracuse Orange have vaulted into the top five in both the Associated Press and USA Today menâ??s college basketball polls released Monday afternoon.

The Orange, currently sitting at a perfect 7-0 on the season, are ranked fourth in the AP writers poll and fifth in the USA Today coaches poll. They defeated Minnesota, California, and Baylor last week en route to their third Maui title.

The Orange are back home in the Carrier Dome Tuesday night to host 1987 nemesis Indiana as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:15 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN. You may recall SU defeated IU 61-50 in last yearâ??s NCAA Tournament on their way to the Final Four.

The Hoosiers are 23rd in this weekâ??s coaches poll. They are unranked in the AP poll.

In related news, the Orange women are ranked 22nd in the AP poll after winning the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands over the weekend. They also have an unblemished record this season at 8-0.
