The old saying goes, if you play with fire long enough, you're bound to get burned.
That happened on Wednesday night.
#1 Syracuse (25-1) blew a 13-point second half lead and lost to a Boston College team that sports a 7-19 record by a final of 62-59 at the Carrier Dome on Wednesday night.
Syracuse had a chance to tie the game at the end, but Trevor Cooney's three point attempt fell well short.
It's Syracuse's first loss since the Orange fell to Michigan at the Final Four on April 6, 2013.
After Boston College erased the Orange's lead, the Eagles took a 46-42 lead late in the game before Tyler Ennis scored twice to tie things up.
The Orange had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Rakeem Christmas' hook shot just missed, which forced overtime at 50-50.
In overtime, Boston College struck first with two quick three pointers, Syracuse eventually took the lead briefly but BC made its free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win over SU.
It's Boston College's first win since 2009 when the Eagles beat North Carolina, who went on to win the National Championship that season.
