Watch- SUNY Oswego Baseball live in studio before first College World Series appearance
History made in the Port City.
SUNY Oswego Baseball is off to the College World Series for the first time in school history.
The Lakers won the New York Regional over the weekend, earning a spot among eight quarterfinalists all fighting for a chance at a National Championship.
The tournament is double-elimination.
The College World Series is held in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Oswego begins play taking on Roanoke Friday at 2:15 EST, the Lakers are the top seed in their pod. With a win, the Lakers would meet the winner of Concordia Chicago and Washington & Jefferson at 2:15 Saturday. If Oswego loses Friday, they play the loser of that matchup Saturday morning at 10:00 am.
It's been a wild ride, with Oswego riding a Wes Randall walk-off 2 RBI single to beat Ithaca at the start of the New York Regional, a win over Tufts vaulted the Lakers into what turned out to be a best-of-three series with Southern Maine, which of course the Lakers won.
The team leaves first thing Wednesday morning from Syracuse to Wisconsin.
