A dream come true for Challenger Baseball kids
Talk about a dream come true.
On Thursday, Syracuse Challenger baseball had a wonderful opportunity to "Play Ball!" on the grass field at NBT Bank Stadium, home of the Syracuse Chiefs.
No doubt, it was a thrill in itself to play on the home field of the Chiefs, but also bear in mind that the Challenger kids don't have a field of their own. They're nomads, that also have to wait for traditional Little Leagues to end, meaning that our special needs kids have to play in the full brunt of the summer heat.
That's why there's a monumental effort underway to build the Challenger Field of Dreams.
So far, over $1 million dollars has been raised towards the project.

The scene at NBT Bank Stadium on Thursday was a reinforcement of the need for that proposed field. The Syracuse Challengers, the nation's largest challenger baseball league at 220 strong, took to NBT Bank Stadium with enthusiasm and vigor.
The festivities kicked off just after four p.m. with a rousing rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" by player Brittaney Del Toro.
After that, it was time to play ball!
