It's a dream come true.
Scott Blewett, the hard throwing senior pitcher for the Baldwinsville Bees was selected in the 2nd round (56th overall) by the Kansas City Royals.
Blewett was live in our studio a couple weeks ago.
He's been on the radar of major league scouts for some time now, and it's no secret why. He's a bright kid with a 95 m.p.h. fastball who throws essentially downhill at hitters thanks to his 6'5" frame.
Scott led the Baldwinsville Bees to the 2013 New York State Championship, and now he has some decisions to make.
Blewett can sign with the Royals for a nice paycheck as a second round pick or he can elect to go to college where he has already signed his letter of intent to play for St. John's.
Scott is the highest local player drafted since Central Square alum Tom Murphy who was taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 3rd round of the 2012 MLB Draft.
