Ballin' For a Cure raises money to fight cancer

It's the best of both worlds.

You get to play basketball, and help beat cancer in the process.

It's called "Ballin' for the Cure" and it's put on by former Syracuse Orange football standout Michael Acchione.

Teams of three will battle on the court and it's all in honor of the battle that Brenden Fesinger endured.

Fesinger, a close friend of Acchione, defeated brain cancer.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Upstate Cancer Center.

Acchione says that last year nearly $5,000 was raised and the goal here in 2014 is to eclipse that mark.

The action starts at 11:00 am at the Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center. 20 teams will be in action and there are plenty of raffles for cool items including a signed Chandler Jones jersey from the New England Patriots.
