Believe it! Syracuse Chiefs clinch first playoff berth this century

It may not have come with the excitement of doing it at NBT Bank Stadium, but here's the one thing that matters:

The Syracuse Chiefs have clinched a playoff berth.

The Chiefs fell to Pawtucket on Friday night, however, Buffalo lost to Rochester which secured the wild card spot for Syracuse.

The Chiefs can still clinch the International League's North Division, too.

Syracuse has not made the playoffs since 1998, that year ,the Chiefs' only home game was wiped out by the brutal Labor Day Storm.

Since that happened, the last time we've actually seen playoff baseball in Syracuse was 1994.

The Chiefs season closes on Monday at NBT Bank Stadium, after which, we'll learn the details of where and when the Chiefs' first playoff game is.
