Big second period gives Crunch 5-0 victory over Bridgeport

The Crunch, powered by a scoring barrage in the second period, disposed of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Saturday night by a 5-0 final score.

Rookie goalie Kristers Gudlevskis made his first American Hockey League start a great one, stopping all of the Sound Tigerâ??s 22 shots for the win.

All of the Crunchâ??s five goals came in the first period. J.P. Cote started the Crunch scoring just 49 seconds into the second period. Just over two minutes later, Vlad Namestnikov scored his fourth of the season and gave the Crunch a 2-0 lead.

After 13 minutes of no scoring and an exciting Eric Neilson fight, Matt Tormina rocketed a shot into the net on the power play to give the Crunch a 3-0 lead and his six game point streak alive. Click here to see Neilson's fight!

Then, Evan Rankin scored on a break away at the 16:49 mark of the period to put the Crunch up by four. The final goal came with 3 seconds left in the period with the Crunch on the penalty kill when Cedric Paquette scored on a 2-on-1 break out with Mike Angelidis.

The Crunchâ??s next game is Wednesday, October 30th when they travel down the Thruway to face the Albany Devils.
