Carmelo Anthony is motivated by his return to Syracuse

Carmelo Anthony looked around the Carrier Dome with a nostalgic eye when he walked in to be interviewed by the media on Monday morning, nine years since he forever etched his name in the hearts of Orange fans by leaping to lead the way to a National Championship Title.

As he returns as a New York Knick to face the Philadelphia 76ers in a preseason game at the Dome on Monday night, Anthony seems motivated when he talks about the place where he won it all.

"It's just motivating," says Anthony, "just to know what I was able to do here by bringing a Championship to the University and to the town. It motivates me to want to bring that back, to my (new) town now New York City. It kind of puts everything into perspective."

Anthony says it was especially emotional to have visited the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center on Sunday, a state of the art basketball facility he donated $3 million to and helped launch a huge fund-raising campaign to have built.

"It was kind of surreal for me to be walking around and see my name plastered around the building and on the outside of the building," admits Anthony. "It was shocking to me. I called my family and sent them pictures of it, you know me outside the building with my name on it, and it's just probably one of those moments I'll never forget."

Tip off tonight at the Dome is 7:00 p.m. Watch the video above for the entire interview with Carmelo Anthony.
