The Syracuse Chiefs and the Pawtucket Red Sox have a thing for close and dramatic games. A night after the Pawtucket Red Sox clinched the North Division pennant with a walk off win, the Chiefs rebounded with a late 2-1 win over the Triple A affiliate of Boston.
Chris Marrero had a home run in the win, his 11th of the season. The winning run came for the Chiefs in the top of the 8th inning off a Corey Brown single that scored Eury Perez.
Caleb Clay had another solid start for the Chiefs, going six innings, giving up two hits, one earned run, walking one and striking out two. However, the win would go to reliever Ian Krol, his first of the year. Cole Kimball would get the save for the Chiefs, his first of the season.
The Chiefs return home to NBT Bank Stadium tomorrow for their final two games of the 2013 season. They will take on the Buffalo Bison tomorrow at 6:30pm and again Monday at 2:00pm. The Chiefs will send Ryan Tatusko to the mound while the Bison will send out starter Ricky Romero.
There will also be fireworks after the conclusion of tomorrow nightâ??s game.
