Connolly's hat trick not enough to best Binghamton

Brett Connollyâ??s hat trick performance wasnâ??t enough to best Binghamton as the Crunch fell to the Senators 6-3.

Connolly put the Crunch up early with a power play goal five minutes and 59 seconds into the contest and struck again just before the close of the first period. Unfortunately for Syracuse, the Senators managed to net three of their own during a four minute span in the opening frame, prompting a change in net from Kristers Gudlevskis (eight saves, three goals allowed) to Cedric Desjardins.

Desjardins stopped 17 of the 19 shots he faced in his first appearance in two weeks. Connollyâ??s hat trick is the second of his career (his first came in an April 13 win over the Americans last spring) and ties him with linemate Vladislav Namestnikov for second most goals on the team with 12.

The loss snapped a six game point streak and is the Crunchâ??s seventh loss in their eight meetings with the Sens this season. The Crunch will not see Binghamton again until March. Syracuse will have a five day break before hosting the Hershey Bears on back-to-back nights this weekend.
