Crunch clinches division for first time in more than a decade

It's been more than a decade since the Syracuse Crunch clinched their division, but on Saturday night the Crunch defeated Worcester 4-3 in a shootout to clinch the East Division.

After Brett Connolly scored in the first and Philip-Michael Devos and Tyler Johnson both scored in the second, it looked like Syracuse would cruise to their first division title since the 2001-2002 season. But, Worcester scored three goals in the third period to send the game into overtime. When both teams were held scoreless, the game resulted in a shootout, which was won by Syracuse 3-0.

Syracuse plays their regular season finale against Binghamton on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the War Memorial.
