Friday night, the Syracuse Crunch made a statement to the Rochester Americans and the entire American Hockey League that no lead is safe when they are playing the Crunch in the War Memorial.
After coming in to the third period down 4-2, the Crunch stormed back to tie the game at 4 goals a piece and send the game into overtime and a shootout. They were able to capitalize in the shootout to beat the Americans 5-4.
Nikita Kucherov, who was named AHL Rookie of the Month for October earlier this week, continued his hot streak with two goals and two assists while line mates Vlad Namestikov and Nikita Nesterov each added goals of their own in the win.
Rookie goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis had 29 saves in regulation and the overtime period combined and stopped 4 of the 5 Amerk shooters in the shootout. Kucherov and Cedric Paquette each scored in the shootout for the Crunch.
The Crunch will travel down Route 81 to take on division and in state rivals Binghamton Senators at the Broome County War Memorial on Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.
