It comes with perhaps the most hype surrounding a Syracuse Crunch season in the club's 18 years of existence.
But finally, the newest and most exciting era of Syracuse Crunch hockey is about to commence.
The Crunch, with a new team supplied by its new affiliation agreement with the Tampa Bay Lightning, will hit the ice for its regular season opener on Friday in Rochester and the home opener pits the Crunch against the Hershey Bears on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
Remember, the bunch that calls Syracuse its home this year, won the Calder Cup last year as the Norfolk Admirals and now that team wants to bring the Cup to its new fans in Syracuse.
If the preseason is any indication, that may very well occur. The Crunch won all three of its preseason games over last year's #2 seed the St. John's Icecaps.
No doubt though, fans of the Crunch are in for a fun ride over the next eight months.
