Full Interview: Breanna Stewart's high school coach talks about former player's success at UConn

C-NS basketball coach Eric Smith talks about former player Breanna Stewart

Breanna Stewart scored 29 points in Uconn's win over Notre Dame in the Final Four on Sunday night, putting the Huskies on her back, advancing to the National Title game against Louisville on Tuesday night.

A C-NS grad, just one year ago, Stewart led C-NS to a state title in Class AA, and a federation title as a high school senior.

Stewart is just a freshman at Uconn, but helped the Huskies not only get to the National Title game, but also to defeat Notre Dame, who the Huskies lost to three times earlier in the season.

Her former high school coach reflected on her big game performance on Monday afternoon.

"She's played for five or six world teams, she's played for her country, and she wants to play on these stages, that's why she went to UConn," Eric Smith, C-NS girls basketball coach, says. "She wants to step up, this is the reason that she's there, to play at the Final Four in these games."

Stewart and UConn play Louisvile in the National Championship at 8:30 on Tuesday night.
