Gary Gait headlines 27th Greater Syracuse Sports Hall Of Fame Class
The Class of 2013 has been announced, and a familiar face headlines the 6 inductees.
The Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2013, and included in that class was former SU lacrosse star and current SU Womens Lacrosse Head Coach Gary Gait.
If you're wondering, the delay in Gait's induction had to do with how long he lived in Syracuse, he didn't yet meet residency requirements for the Hall of Fame.
Gait though, is joined by some elite company in different sports.
The name Tearney is synonymous with karate in Central New York, and Greg Tearney was announced as a member of the class. He's taught karate in town for 40 years, earning 5 different black belts and two 10th degree black belts.
Equally as impressive in golf is Joe Tesori. Again, another name that's synonymous with his respective sport. Tesori has taught the sport at several area courses including Pompey where he works today. He also led Le Moyne to a National Championship in the 1960's.
The other inductees including lacrosse legend Barry Powless, former St. Anthony's and Le Moyne super-athlete Don Savage and former parochial league star Adam Markowski.
