The Ithaca baseball team beat number one ranked Linfield 6-4 on Monday, avoiding elimination and putting the Bombers just two wins away from a national title.
The 7th ranked Bombers play 14th ranked Southern Maine at noon on Tuesday, with the winner of that game playing Linfield for the National Championship at 3:30, also on Tuesday.
Linfield actually led for about half the game, scoring two in the bottom of the first. After a few innings of a Linfield lead, the Bomber offense woke up in the fifth. Ithaca scored three runs with two outs in the top of the inning, taking the lead.
That's all Westhill alum Pat Lemmo would need, allowing just four runs (only one was earned), in seven innings of work. It was his 12th win of the season, tying the single-season pitching wins record at Ithaca College.
