It's official- SU vs. North Carolina is de facto play-in game for ACC Tournament

It's one game, win or go home.

Sort of.

When the SU Mens Lacrosse team takes on North Carolina (6:00 p.m. at the Carrier Dome on ESPNU) the winner will make the inaugural ACC Tournament field. The loser will be out of the 4-team field.

Although, the two squads that don't make the tournament still do play a game in Chester, PA (site of the tournament) on the day between the semifinals and championship game.

The Orange vs. Tar Heels became an essential playoff game when Virginia lost to Duke on Friday night. With that loss, surprisingly, Virginia became the first team to officially be on the outside looking in.

The ACC Tournament takes place April 25-27 at PPL Park just outside Philadelphia. Should Syracuse win and punch its ticket to the ACC Tournament, it would likely face Duke in its first game.

Duke beat the Orange 21-7 last month.
