Jo-Lonn Dunbar, Mike Hart and others coach hundreds at 4th CNY Football Academy
More than 300 kids were coached by former Central New York stars Jo-Lonn Dunbar, Mike Hart and Tyvon Branch this past Friday and Saturday as a part of the CNY Football Academy.
It's the fourth time in a row the former stars have held the camp, adding up to help coach more than 1,000 kids locally in Central New York.
"It's great to come back and help all the kids and give back," Dunbar says. "Something Tyvon, and Mike and I have talked about for so long, and to see this happen year after year and grow to be the big kind camp that it's become is just awesome."
It is a chance not only for them to give back to the community, but also for these kids to be up close with athletes that were not only stars at the high school level, but in college and beyond.
"What I would love to stress to the kids is just dream...have a dream, dream big, and do whatever you can do to have that dream come true," Dunbar says.
Jo-Lonn Dunbar, a Corcoran graduate, played linebacker for the St. Louis Rams in 2013, and attended Boston College. C-NS grad Tyvon Branch is currently playing for the Oakland Raiders. Mike Hart, who set several records as a running back at Onondaga, played at the University of Michigan and was with the Indianapolis Colts for a time in the NFL. He now coaches at Eastern Michigan University.
