The SU football team added Joe Adam to its coaching staff on Thursday, who will take over as the Orange offensive line coach.
Earlier this week former O-line coach Pat Perles left the program, leaving the position open for Adam. Adam has 17 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, spending the last seven at Elmhurst College.
"It is a blessing to have this opportunity at Syracuse," Adam said on Cuse.com. "I am a blue collar person and coach who fits the mold of Coach Shafer's vision for this program. I was fortunate to be part of two National Championship seasons as an assistant coach and will refer to those experiences as I put together the blue print for success for our offensive line. I am excited to be with familiar faces. We share common beliefs in attention to detail and in making student-athletes better people and players."
Coach Scott Shafer and Adam have a history, as the two coached together at Western Michigan University, where Adam was a graduate assistant.
"Joe is a self-made man and coach," Shafer said. "He has come up through the coaching ranks the hard way, from lining fields to tracking academics to on-field coaching. He has a true appreciation for the entire process. Joe's ability to develop, coach and succeed with high values coincides with the core beliefs of our program. We welcome Joe and Lisa to the Syracuse family."
