Le Moyne baseball captain finalist for national Fan's Choice Award

The Le Moyne College baseball captain Patrick Wiese, who inspired thousands with his fight against cancer, has been named a finalist for the TD Ameritrade Fan's Choice Award. The annual award recognizes college baseball players nationwide who demonstrate integrity in all aspects of life. There are 16 finalists up for consideration this year.

Before he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma cancer in his right knee, Wiese started for three years at Le Moyne, leading his team in batting average, on-base percentage, hits, runs and stolen bases his junior year.

Forced to sit out his senior season while undergoing chemotherapy, Wiese and teammate/friend Nate Reynolds formed the Patrick Wiese Foundation. The goal being to help others in a similar situation as Patrick's, including the patients families as well. The organization has raised more than $30,000 in just six months of existence.

There are three rounds of voting, with Round One beginning May 27th and ending June 9th. The Top 12 move on to Round Two, which is then narrowed down to the Top 4. The winner will be officially announced on June 24th, and honored at the College Home Run Derby on July 3rd on ESPN.
