It's been less than a week, but finally, the thought of winning a National Championship is starting to set in for the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team.
On Thursday afternoon, Le Moyne College celebrated the lacrosse team's accomplishment, as the Le Moyne College president Fred Pestello congratulated the team in person, as friends and family looked on.
The trophy shined in the afternoon sun, as the National Champion athletes came together again, smiles still spreading from cheek to cheek. For the program, another National Championship, in addition to the titles in 2004, 2006 and 2007 means a lot towards recognition and prestige.
"It's a great opportunity for Le Moyne College to get out there even more," Le Moyne head coach Dan Sheehan says. "Certainly for our lacrosse program, we're hoping that there's a bunch of younger high school kids that recognize the opportunities here at Le Moyne."
Andrew Chadderdon was one of those kids who recognized Le Moyne's excellence during their mid-2000s run, and is excited to be part of the latest championship.
"We want to do it every year," he says. "You come to Le Moyne as a freshman, and you think you're going to win a National Championship."
