Local 14U baseball team wins national tournament at Disney World, National Championships up next

The AOTR Junior Legends 14U baseball team celebrates their championship in Florida

The AOTR Junior Legends, a 14U travel baseball team out of Syracuse, won the Disney International Salute to Baseball Championship this weekend at the Disney Wide World of Sports in Florida.

The team says it was "beyond their wildest dreams" to win, which they did in impressive fashion. In each game they played, they 10-run ruled the other team. That means they had a lead of 10 runs or more after the 5th inning. In the final against the Florida Braves, Cazenovia high school's Jake Schettine hit a three RBI double in the 6th inning, making the score 14-4 and clinching the championship.

18 teams were in the tournament, with the AOTR Junior Legends featuring athletes out of schools like C-NS, Liverpool, Solvay, Cato-Meridian and CBA.

The squad has won enough tournaments at this point to qualify them for the National Championships at Myrtle Beach in two weeks.
