Local short track sprint racing growing in Central New York

Next week is the Sprint Summer Shootout at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, NY, and racers are gearing up for one of the biggest events of the season.

The racing is expected to be faster than normal on the track, something both the racers and fans like to see.

With places like Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, Brewerton Speedway, and Oswego Speedway all attracting more and more people each week, racing is beginning to catch on in Central New York.

â??I think racing in general is getting bigger around here,â?? says spring car driver Shawn Donath, who is second in the point standings on the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Championship Tour. â??NASCAR is too expensive for people to leave town to go and see, and you can catch a local short track race and itâ??s probably a lot more exciting than some of the other stuff you would see.â??

The Empire Super Sprints Roll is on July 3rd, and should feature some of the fastest racing on the season. If fans purchase tickets before Friday June, 29th, they will get a free Fan Pit Pass, which should enhance the experience even more.

If local racing continues to put on events like the Spring Car Summer Shootout, it will continue to grow here in Central New York.
