Many so-called experts thought it was a no-brainer that Ryan Nassib and Shamarko Thomas would be taken by the end of the 3rd round in the NFL Draft.
That wansn't the case.
By the end of Friday night's festivities over 95 picks had gone by and only one Syracuse University football player had been chosen, that was Justin Pugh in the first round to the New York Giants.
Nassib and Thomas almost assuredly will be chosen on Saturday which covers the 4th through 7th rounds.
Nassib was passed over in favor of quarterbacks Geno Smith and Mike Glennon who were drafted by the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers respectively, something that surprised Doug Marrone.
"I am extremely surprised. I think the world of Ryan. He has a strong work ethic. He is a tough kid. He has a very good arm and I think he will be a great addition to whatever team selects him. He has the skillset to be successful. I wish him the best of luck. I think he will be successful in this league. I really believe a team will select him soon" said Nassib's coach at SU who was shocked that he hadn't been chosen yet.
