Now waiting for Selection Sunday, Orange still optimistic, 3-seed likely

SU awaits their seeding on Selection Sunday

The first ever ACC Tournament for Syracuse arrived with all sorts of fanfare.

It ended, really, before it could even get started.

Syracuse falls 66-63 to North Carolina State, a revenge win for the Wolfpack who barely lost in the Carrier Dome last month.

For Syracuse, a team that seemingly was back on track after a big road win at Florida State, the outcome is a big disappointment.

"We played extremely well at Florida State and I thought we would play well here" says Orange Head Coach Jim Boeheim.

The Hall of Fame Head Coach though, is remaining optimistic about the Orange in the NCAA Tournament next week.

"I'm not concerned about our team. I think we played well all year. I think we struggle shooting it, I think that's pretty well documented. But in spite of that, we won 27 games. So I'm pretty pleased with what these guys have done. And I believe that we will be a very good tournament team" Boeheim added.

Syracuse learns its NCAA fate tomorrow. In my estimation, a three seed seems like a likely bet. A four seed is by all means possible as well. More important than seeding is where the Orange will play its games. Will it be the East Region as Central New Yorkers hope (which means a chance to play in Madison Square Garden for the East Regionals)?

A venue closer to home might serve the Orange well. Coach Boeheim went out of his way to make sure the media knew that all the people in Greensboro have treated the team well, "The people in Greensboro are great, they try to take care of everything you have" Boeheim said. But he went on to say "There's only one thing that matters, how you play. If you don't play well, then it's a bad experience".
