Onondaga C.C. men's lacrosse opens as favorite to defend NJCAA National Championship
The Onondaga Community College men's lacrosse team has begun practicing for the 2018 season, which gets underway February 21 against Anne Arundel Community College.
The Lazers spoke with the media Monday afternoon, while also taking their team photo for the upcoming season.
Onondaga head coach Chuck Wilbur, who's aiming for his 11th NJCAA National Championship, is once again excited to get the new season underway.
"We had a great season last year and to finish it off with a 1-goal victory in the National Championship Game, on our home field, is story book stuff," Wilbur said with a smirk. "Obviously, we didn't want to keep it that close. I think it's more fun for the fans, but for us, we were disappointed with the way we played in the championship game. The fun thing is we won, but now that we can talk about it, a lot of us were disappointed that we didn't play as well as we're capable of. I think it's influenced this year where we can play a little bit better this time around and hopefully get back to where we were."
