It was a special day at Onondaga Community College, as the school held a special ceremony unveiling its new fields.
The complex features both a softball and baseball diamond and with our harsh Central New Yorkers, the lack of dirt is crucial to getting the field ready.
The field unveiling also included several tributes to Rob Edson, the late athletic director who really got the ball rolling on the fields.
The only thing that could have made the day better was a win for OCC.
Or maybe four.
The OCC Baseball team swept its opponent Niagara 4-2 and 2-1. A monumental sweep, given that neither team had lost a regional game heading into the day.
Jacob Shortslef won the first game and Pat Merryweather won game two.
OCC is now 26-6 and undefeated in Region 3 with a #5 ranking.
The OCC Softball team was just as impressive Tuesday sweeping Niagara on the adjacent field.
In game one, the Lazers scored four runs in the first inning which was key to a 5-4 victory. Game Two, wasn't even close as OCC rolled 22-4.
